Potassium hydroxide
Cas No.: 1310-58-3
HS Code: 2815200000
Chemical Formula: KOH
Net weight: 25KG/bag
PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
Potassium hydroxide (chemical formula: KOH, formula weight: 56.1) white powder or flaky solid. The melting point is 380°C, the boiling point is 1324°C, the relative density is 2.04g/cm3, the refractive index is n20/D1.421, and the vapor pressure is 1mmHg (719°C). Strong alkaline and corrosive. It is easy to absorb moisture in the air and deliquescence, and absorb carbon dioxide to form potassium carbonate. Soluble in about 0.6 parts hot water, 0.9 parts cold water, 3 parts ethanol, 2.5 parts glycerin. A lot of heat is generated when dissolved in water, alcohol or treated with acid. The pH of the 0.1 mol/L solution is 13.5. Moderately toxic, the median lethal dose (rat, oral) is 1230 mg/kg. Soluble in ethanol, slightly soluble in ether. It is extremely alkaline and corrosive, and its properties are similar to those of caustic soda.

PRODUCT USAGE
1. Used as desiccant and absorbent, used to make oxalic acid and various potassium salts, and also used in electroplating, engraving, lithography, etc.
2. Mainly used as raw material for potassium salt production, such as potassium permanganate, potassium carbonate, etc. In the pharmaceutical industry, it is used for the production of potassium borohydride, spironolactone, saparinol, testosterone propionate, etc. In light industry, it is used to produce potassium soap, alkaline storage battery, cosmetics (such as cold cream, vanishing cream and shampoo). In the dye industry, it is used to produce vat dyes, such as vat blue RSN, etc. In the electrochemical industry, it is used for electroplating, engraving, etc. In the textile industry, it is used for printing and dyeing, bleaching and mercerizing, and is widely used as the main raw material for the manufacture of man-made fibers and polyester fibers. In addition, it is also used in metallurgical heating agent and leather degreasing.
3. Basic chemical raw materials, used in medicine, daily chemicals, etc.
4. Used as an absorbent for analytical reagents, saponification reagents, carbon dioxide and moisture.
5. The daily chemical industry is used as the raw material for the manufacture of detergent soap, shampoo soft soap, vanishing cream, cold cream, shampoo, etc. The pharmaceutical industry is used to manufacture raw materials such as progesterone and vanillin. The dye industry is used to manufacture melamine dyes. The battery industry is used to manufacture alkaline storage batteries.
